England call for Richards
10 Nov 2006 - 16:19:15
Manchester City's teenage defender Micah Richards has won a call-up to the England squad for the friendly against the Netherlands at the Amsterdam ArenA next Wednesday.
The 18-year-old right-back is the one newcomer in head coach Steve McClaren's 28-man party, with Aaron Lennon, Joe Cole and Andrew Johnson also handed recalls after injury.
McClaren told TheFA.com: "I've watched Micah play a number of times and he's a strong, quick and athletic player, who has really impressed at Man City this season.
"This match provides us with a great opportunity to have a look at him over the next few days and he fully deserves his chance.
"Holland are always tough opponents, as they have a great history and tradition, and I'm sure it will be very competitive."
