England's Euro 2016 last-16 clash with Iceland on Monday will be just the third meeting of the nations.

Here, Press Association Sport looks back at the previous two encounters.

Iceland 1 England 1, friendly, June 2, 1982

Initially categorised as a B team match only for the Icelandic football association to push for it to be classified as a full international after a fine draw. Ron Greenwood's side fell behind at Laugardalsvollur in Reykjavik after 23 minutes to a goal from Arnor Gudjohnsen, father of former Chelsea striker Eidur. England avoided defeat thanks to a 69th-minute leveller by debutant Paul Goddard - his first international goal on his only international appearance. Steve Perryman also made his sole international appearance that day.

England 6 Iceland 1, friendly, June 5, 2004

England gave their supporters a send-off to remember at the City of Manchester Stadium before they headed for Euro 2004. Sven-Goran Eriksson's first-choice side went in at half-time with a three-goal lead thanks to a Wayne Rooney brace and a Frank Lampard effort, with Heidar Helguson pulling a goal back just before the interval. Darius Vassell netted twice once play resumed and Wayne Bridge completed the rout with his only international goal.
