Southampton defender Matt Targett has been called up to the England Under-21s for the first time as Gareth Southgate's men prepare for matches against the Czech Republic and Germany later this month.

The 19-year-old has been a regular for Saints and for the England Under-20s but could now win a first under-21 cap, either for the game against European Championship hosts the Czech Republic in Prague or against Germany in Middlesbrough.

Arsenal's Calum Chambers and fellow defender John Stones of Everton both feature, having been part of Roy Hodgson's senior set-up recently.

Manchester United's Jesse Lingard has been called up for the first time since last May, with injuries having kept him out of Southgate's plans this season.

West Brom striker Saido Berahino is also back in the under-21 squad having been part of the senior group in November.
