Goals from Michael Ngoo and Jonjo Shelvey gave Noel Blake's new-look England U19 side a comfortable victory in their first outing of the season. The victory, at Crewe Alexandra's Gresty Road, was a great start for the new crop of players as they look to build form ahead of the European Championship qualifiers. England stared brightly, taking the lead through Ngoo after just 16 minutes. Shelvey led a counter-attack after being gifted the ball by the Slovakia midfielder Patrik Jacko, he found Ross Barkley who laid the ball into the path of Ngoo. Ezekiel Fryers fired a shot just wide five minutes later, with Shelvey seeing an effort turned wide by a defender. Slovakia dug in at the start of the second-half, limiting England's chances even though they struggled to create opportunities of their own. Shelvey got the second goal after 72 minutes, curling the ball into a top corner from a free-kick just outside the area.
