England to implement IFAB rule changes in Euro 2016 warm-up games

England's Euro 2016 warm-ups will be played in line with new refereeing laws that will be in place during the tournament.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) agreed earlier this year to revise the rulebook, including removing the mandatory red card for denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity and bringing in cautions for goalkeepers who move off their line at a penalty.

Those changes only officially take place from June 1 - after England's May 22 date with Turkey and the game against Australia five days later.

But IFAB allows matches to be played under the new laws earlier and Press Association Sport understands England have sought and secured agreements with the Turkish and Australian associations.

England's final warm-up match, against Portugal at Wembley, is on June 2, the day after the formal changeover.

Manager Roy Hodgson names his 23-man squad on Thursday and they will be briefed on the changes before an official presentation by former referee and IFAB technical director David Elleray.
