Wolves winger Matt Jarvis was celebrating his first England call-up on Sunday night after being named in Fabio Capello's 26-man squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales and the friendly against Ghana at Wembley on March 29.

The 24-year-old has been named in a couple of provisional squads already this season but failed to make the final cut.

However, with Theo Walcott and Adam Johnson ruled out through injury, Capello has handed Jarvis his chance to compete for starting spots with Aaron Lennon and Ashley Young.

Lennon is included for the first time since England's last qualifier against Montenegro in October.

However, more notable is the return of new Liverpool striker Andy Carroll, who impressed Capello hugely when he made his debut in the friendly defeat to France in November.

The £35million forward missed last month's encounter with Denmark due to a thigh injury but the England coach always made it clear Carroll would return once he had regained his fitness.

England squad:

Goalkeepers: Ben Foster (Birmingham), Robert Green (West Ham), Joe Hart (Man City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Bolton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Man City), John Terry (Chelsea, capt), Kyle Walker (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Man City), Stewart Downing (Aston Villa), Matt Jarvis (Wolves), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Man City), Scott Parker (West Ham), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
