England showed aggression - eventually

England's friendly victory over Mexico at Wembley was only achieved after a more aggressive performance in the second-half. The Three Lions led 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Ledley King and Peter Crouch, but the performance had left plenty to be desired and the defending at times looked amateurish. Robert Green, in the England goal, was the main reason the Central Americans were not ahead. The central defensive partnership of Kind and Rio Ferdinand looked vulnerable, while the central midfield pairing of Michael Carrick and James Milner also failed to impose itself. Fabio Capello, the England coach, reacted at the break by moving Gerrard inside from the right wing and urging his players to be more willing to hassle their opponents. "The manager wanted more aggression from the whole team. They had too much possession in the first-half, we stood off them and let them play," said Gerrard, speaking to itv1 immediately after the game. "In the second-half we got in their faces and stopped them playing, we need to be more aggressive. "We can play better than we did, there's still time to sharpen up and we'll go to South Africa and give it our best shot."
