England look set to stage a friendly against Germany next month as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
The Football Association (FA) has been planning for the build-up to the World Cup for some time and now they can make those plans public following the team's qualification.
Club England managing director Adrian Bevington confirmed on Wednesday that England expect to play Germany at Wembley on November 19, four days after another friendly, which will also take place at the national stadium.
The opponents for the first fixture are to be confirmed, but it is thought that either Australia or Argentina could be the visitors to London.
"We are pretty well advanced (in negotiations for the November friendlies)," Bevington said in a joint interview with the BBC and Al-Jazeera.
"I expect to be in a position in the next 24 hours to confirm one of them. I don't think it is any great secret that we are expecting to play Germany in the second of the two games next month.
"That would conclude the 150th anniversary celebrations of the FA so it would be a great way to end the year.
"We are in talks with non-European opponents at the moment with regards to the first game which would be on Friday (November 15) or Saturday (November 16), that is still to be confirmed.
"We had been looking to play Uruguay in the first game, but they are now in the play-offs so we are now speaking with other opponents.
"We expect to announce that on Thursday."
Bevington confirmed that England hope to play Denmark at Wembley in the international window in March.
Then, after the end of the season, preparations for the World Cup will begin in earnest.
England will play another game at Wembley on the Saturday that follows the 2014 Champions League final, which is scheduled for May 31, before heading to the United States.
They will play the US somewhere in north America before heading down to Miami for a pre-World cup training camp.
While in Florida, England will play an as yet unnamed opponent.
Once in Brazil, the Three Lions hope to base themselves at the five-star Royal Tulip hotel in Rio de Janeiro.
England were based at the Windsor Atlantica on the lively Copacabana for their friendly in Rio in June, but the Royal Tulip is in a quieter part of town on the Sao Conrado beach.
When in Brazil for the 1-1 draw in June, England trained at Urca military base - a stunning setting which was overlooked by Sugar Loaf Mountain.
The base has been designated as a training ground for the tournament and Bevington hopes England's visit there in June, when they allowed servicemen and locals to watch training sessions, will work in their favour.
"The organising committee in Brazil have contracted the Urca base (as a training base for the tournament)," Bevington added.
"We were the first team so that was our first option, and we are expecting that to be our training ground."
Former manager Fabio Capello drew criticism for basing the players out in a remote base in Rustenburg for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but Roy Hodgson changed tact once he took over.
Hodgson based England in the heart of Krakow for Euro 2012 and it will be a similar scenario for the squad for the Brazil World Cup.
"The hotel we have earmarked is the Royal Tulip," Bevington said
"It's a bit further around from the Copacabana, but it is still pretty central."
