Driver given break

Andrew Driver has been given permission to sit out Hearts' pre-season trip to Germany following his involvement with the England Under-21 squad. The 21-year-old was an unused substitute as Stuart Pearce's men lost 4-0 to Germany in the final of the European Under-21 Championship last night. The rest of the first team are set to report back to Riccarton on Wednesday for the start of pre-season training, but Driver has been granted two weeks off to re-charge his batteries before returning on July 15. "Andrew will be disappointed at last night's result but I'm sure it was still a great occasion for him," manager Csaba Laszlo told Hearts News. "It was also a great tournament for him to play in - it is a special moment in a young player's career, definitely." He added: "The squad is due to get back together again tomorrow but Andrew won't be reporting back just yet. "I told him he can come back two weeks later than the rest of the players. After the training camp in Germany he will be back training with us. "He can have a holiday and then join up with the rest of the team after that."
