Fabian Delph and Adam Lallana missed England training at St George's Park on Thursday.

The England squad continued their preparations for the upcoming double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia at the national football centre in Burton-upon-Trent, but neither Delph nor Lallana featured.

Lallana was given permission to miss training following the birth of his second child on Wednesday.

The Liverpool midfielder is expected to join the rest of the 23-man squad later on Thursday.

Delph was absent from training as he is still recovering from a minor injury he suffered in Aston Villa's 4-0 FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal.

The Villa midfielder did some gym work with one of the England physios indoors instead.

England will stay at St George's Park for the rest of the week before flying to Dublin to take on the Republic at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.

Seven days later they fly to Slovenia for their final Euro 2016 qualifier of the season in Ljubljana.

Roy Hodgson's men are six points clear of second-placed Slovenia with five qualifiers left.
