Jermain Defoe, the Tottenham striker, is on course to make his comeback from an ankle injury next month. Defoe has been sidelined since picking up a ligament injury during England's Euro 2012 qualifying victory over Switzerland on September 7. The striker, who had scored one goal in four appearances prior to his lay-off, was expected to be sidelined until December after surgery on the problem. "Jermain is progressing very well in the gym at the moment working on building up his muscles in and around the calf," said Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager. "He is due to start running soon and could return for us next month. "Jermain's return will be a major boost for us. It will put more pressure on our strikers, which will be great for us."
