Daley Blind backs England to score enough goals at Euro 2016

Daley Blind believes England have enough goalscoring options to break down resolute defences at this summer's European Championship.

The Manchester United defender captained Holland to a 2-1 friendly victory at Wembley on Tuesday night, in the last audition for England's players before Roy Hodgson names his squad for Euro 2016.

Holland did not qualify for the finals in France but had enough to beat the Three Lions, with a Vincent Janssen penalty and a strike from Luciano Narsingh cancelling out Jamie Vardy's opener.

However, despite inflicting just a second defeat on Hodgson's side since the 2014 World Cup, Blind admits the Dutch are still not as good as England and is in awe of their attacking talent.

"I think we are very happy with the result," he said. "I think against an opponent like England, with a lot of quality, it was more that type of game for us.

"I think we played really compact and with a lot of discipline and I think after the goal they didn't create a lot of chances - most of the time it was shots outside the box and we are prepared for that. We did well and we played on the counter and scored two goals, so it was a good evening for us.

"You look to the opponent and we know that England is a bit further than us at the moment. You have to adapt and it's not the typical Dutch style because we want to play but we did well, really disciplined and fighting for every ball.

"England is a stronger team and they have a lot of quality in the team. But I think England have enough quality to score goals, they have a lot of goalscorers so I don't think they have to worry."

With Vardy scoring his second goal in as many internationals and Harry Kane getting on the scoresheet in Saturday's 3-2 win over Germany, many believe Blind's United team-mate Wayne Rooney could find himself on the bench in France.

Blind admits he has been impressed with Vardy, who has 19 Barclays Premier League goals this season for league leaders Leicester, and knows Hodgson has plenty to choose from in the attacking positions.

"It's an incredible story, he has done a great job all season already in England," Blind said of Vardy.

"You know that he is a runner, he runs in the channels and you can prepare for that, but he is a good striker.

"Only a few (attacking players) can play so you only have to prepare for one or two.

"Before the game you see the line-up and you know which striker will play and which type you play against. But I think it's great if you have so many strikers with different qualities, I think you can surprise an opponent very well. I think they have very good strikers."
