Cole puts club future on hold

    09 Jun 2010 - 13:27:25

Joe Cole insists he is fully focused on England's World Cup campaign despite the uncertainty surrounding his club future.

Cole has been told he will be released by Chelsea after seven years at Stamford Bridge when his contract expires next month.

The 28-year-old midfielder had been unable to reach agreement over a new contract and will leave the west London club after making 282 first-team appearances.

His availability on a free transfer has already sparked a transfer scramble among Premier League clubs, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and former club West Ham all reported to be interested.

But despite the uncertainty over his club career, Cole claims he is fully focused on helping England do well in South Africa.

Speaking at a press conference at England's Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus training base, he explained: "I'm just focused on the World Cup at the moment, I'll leave that sort of thing to my agent.

"My future will sort itself out. It's been going on a while. It's a story to be told another day."
