Cole injury worry for Hodgson
Roy Hodgson faces an anxious wait to see if Ashley Cole will be fit for England's crunch qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland.
Jose Mourinho substituted Cole in the second half of the Blues' 3-1 win at Norwich and revealed afterwards that the left-back was suffering from a rib injury.
Mourinho hopes the 32-year-old will be fit for the game against the Montenegrins at Wembley on Friday and the visit of Poland four days later.
''He had something in his ribs that we need to assess, but hopefully it's fine," the Chelsea manager said after the match on Sunday.
''He goes for a scan now, when we arrive (back in London), on his ribs. I hope he is fine.
''I want England to do (well), so I hope he's fine.''
Although Hodgson has a top-class back-up in Leighton Baines, the England manager will need experienced heads like Cole around the camp for the two matches.
England top Group H by just one point thanks to their draw in Ukraine last month and the only way they will definitely qualify is if they win their final two games.
The squad will meet up for the first time at St George's Park in Burton on Monday.
The England manager will spend the next four days trying to put together a masterplan to defeat Montenegro, who held the Three Lions to a 1-1 draw in Podgorica in March.
