Cardiff's Bothroyd in frame for Three Lions

Jay Bothroyd could make his international debut next week - after being included in the preliminary England squad for next week's friendly against France at Wembley. The forward, 28, will line up for Cardiff City against Scunthorpe United in the Championship on Saturday knowing a good performance - and no injury - would see him in contention to make Fabio Capello's final squad. The Italian coach does not name his preliminary squads publicly, but the Cardiff manager Dave Jones revealed Botroyd was included after netting 13 goals for the Bluebirds this season. "He's [Bothroyd] in the prelim and we're hoping that he'll be in the full squad," said Jones. "Nothing would give us a prouder moment than he does get a call-up and actually gets on the pitch." Bothroyd represented England at youth levels, but only made one appearance for the U21 squad - scoring in a 3-0 win over Mexico.
