Capello will partner Rooney and Carroll

Fabio Capello is keen to try the strike pairing of Wayne Rooney and Andy Carroll in England's next outing. Carroll made his Three Lions' debut in the midweek loss to France, and is likely to play alongside the Manchester United forward as soon as is possible. That should be a friendly in Copenhagen in February, although the Football Association are still unsure who the opponents will be after Argentina backed out. "They will be a good combination. Not only is Carroll really good in the air, he has good movement, he can bring other players into the game when he receives the ball, he can dribble and is always looking for the goal," said Capello. "When I saw him playing for Newcastle against Arsenal he surprised me and this week he confirmed what I saw." The game will take place on Tuesday February 8, but coming inbetween Premier League fixtures it appears Capello would incur the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson and Chris Hughton if he played them both for large periods of the game. Capello wants the friendly to be played away from Wembley, to take the players out of their comfort zone.   When we play at Wembley, if we start well, the confidence is high and everything is easy," said Capello. "When you start so-so, then the pressure increases and you play without confidence. "For this reason it's very important that the young players play these games and not in easy games. "It is our choice. If we want to win we can play against easy sides. If we want to improve we have to play against good ones."
