Capello will decide Terry future
01 Feb 2010 - 17:55:31
The Football Association insist that head coach Fabio Capello alone will decide whether John Terry should remain as England captain.
Terry's time at the helm of the national side has been brought into the spotlight following a series of lurid allegations about his private life.
Chelsea have already said they will stand by Terry after the defender was named as the player who had had an affair with a team-mate's ex-partner.
An injunction stopping the media from reporting allegations about his private life had been lifted by the High Court on Friday and Terry has been under fire following a string of allegations in various newspapers.
But despite some high-profile pundits calling for Terry to lose the international captaincy ahead of the World Cup, the FA claim that Capello will not be pressurised into making any decision over his future.
"Fabio is fully up to speed with developments regarding John Terry," said an FA spokesman.
"He spoke with our chairman Lord Triesman and chief executive Ian Watmore today, who both backed him to make the best decision for England on footballing grounds.
"Fabio is dealing with the matter in his own way using his extensive experience as a football manager."
