Capello to attend FA event

Fabio Capello has told the Football Association he will attend their 150th year celebration launch in London on Wednesday.

Capello has not had any contact with the FA since he controversially quit the England job on a point of principle last February after chairman David Bernstein stripped John Terry of the Three Lions captaincy for the second time.

The Italian gave a TV interview in which he questioned the decision and a subsequent meeting with Bernstein led to Capello's shock exit on the eve of Euro 2012.

He has since taken the lucrative task of guiding the Russia national side towards the next World Cup.

However, he was invited to the plush function at the Connaught Rooms in Holborn along with every other living England manager, and has informed the FA he will attend.

The precise guestlist for the event, which will be held at the venue where the first FA rulebook was written, has not been publicised.

However, it promises to be a who's who of world football to ensure a fitting start to a year in which England have already arranged two friendlies against Brazil, plus meetings with Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

Matches with Germany and Argentina are also set to be arranged for later in the year, provided England avoid the hazardous World Cup qualifiers.
