Capello silent on Terry future
05 Feb 2010 - 07:30:28
Fabio Capello is remaining tight-lipped on John Terry's future as England captain ahead of showdown talks between the pair on Friday.
The Chelsea defender has found himself at the centre of a media storm since being named as the player who had had an affair with ex-team-mate Wayne Bridge's former partner seven days ago.
Several high-profile pundits have questioned Terry's ability to captain the Three Lions at the World Cup.
However, Capello is remaining tight-lipped on the issue until he has held talks with his embattled leader on Friday.
Speaking at Heathrow Airport on his return to London, Capello refused to comment on the situation despite running a gauntlet of reporters.
The Football Association has already confirmed that Capello alone will make the decision over his captain.
"Fabio is fully up to speed with developments regarding John Terry," said an FA spokesman.
"He spoke with our chairman Lord Triesman and chief executive Ian Watmore today, who both backed him to make the best decision for England on footballing grounds.
"Fabio is dealing with the matter in his own way using his extensive experience as a football manager."
