New England head coach Fabio Capello has offered hope to former captain David Beckham that his international career might not be over just yet.
The 32-year-old worked with Capello at Real Madrid and impressed the Italian in battling back to regain a first-team spot, before moving to the USA to link up with the LA Galaxy.
Beckham currently has 99 international caps to his name and is expected to feature in the friendly against Switzerland in February to reach his century.
Capello commented: "I had a contrasting relationship with David Beckham at Real Madrid. In the end he demonstrated himself to be a great man and a great player.
"He is also the kind of person who, when he sets himself something, he will achieve it. With David Beckham, the only thing you would wish for is that he was younger.
"Will he be part of my plans? You never know. I will have to make choices. I believe basically that Beckham's behaviour will be important.
"However, there is still over a month to the first game, so there is plenty of time for these important decisions to be made."
