Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has been called up into England's squad for the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has been handed a late call after Emile Heskey was injured early on in the 4-0 friendly win over Slovakia, having already opened the scoring at Wembley.
Heskey is now a doubt for the midweek action, while his replacement on Saturday, Carlton Cole, will definitely miss out due a thigh problem.
England coach Fabio Capello had previously ruled out another couple of players as replacements for Heskey and Cole, saying: "Michael Owen played 20 minutes in his last game, it is not enough and it would not be Kevin Davies either."
However, Capello had some reason for optimism after seeing Wayne Rooney excel in scoring twice against the Slovaks.
The Italian added: "I am very happy for him. He played very well, scored two goals and is a very important player for us.
"His movement with Steven Gerrard was very good, both when we were attacking and defending and I was delighted.
"Rooney can play anywhere. If our team were a pack of cards, he would be our joker."
