David Beckham has won a place in the 30-man preliminary England squad for the friendly with France next week, while Middlesbrough defender David Wheater has also earned a first call-up.
Beckham, who now plays his football in the USA with LA Galaxy, currently has 99 international caps to his name and will hope to bring up his century in the Stade de France next Wednesday.
Wheater, 21, has been given the nod by national team head coach Fabio Capello after a series of impressive displays for Boro this season, while there are also recalls for Portsmouth duo Jermain Defoe and Glen Johnson.
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is also included, having fallen out of favour after being included in the squad for the World Cup finals in 2006.
