Capello: Owen is my tormentor

England manager Fabio Capello has admitted that Manchester United striker Michael Owen is proving to be his tormentor.

Capello has consistently overlooked the former Liverpool man when naming his squads and has compared the situation with Antonio Cassano's omission from the curretnt Italy set-up.

Capello, speaking at an Italian sports seminar, said: "I have Michael Owen, I also have a tormentor.

"With Lippi, it's Cassano. Everyone has one."

Owen has found the net 40 times in 89 appearances for his country but has not been picked by Capello since the 1-0 friendly loss to France in March 2008 when he was still a Newcastle United player.

The 29-year-old has scored twice in 12 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side so far this season following his surprise move to Old Trafford in the summer.
