Capello eyes finals, not Russian rumours

England boss Fabio Capello insisted that the Euro 2012 finals are his immediate concern and shrugged off feverish speculation that he tops super-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala's wish-list.

Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos, the player-coach at Anzhi, had revealed that Capello was a prime target to succeed the sacked Gadzhi Gadzhiev at the ambitious Russian outfit.

However, Capello, whose England contract ends in 2012, insists there has been no contact and that he is determined to concentrate on Friday's trip to Montenegro where a draw will put his team in the finals next summer.

"No-one has spoken to me from Russia, so I was surprised by everything that I read. But I read my name with Inter. I read my name with other teams, now the Russian team," Capello said on Sunday.

"The answer is always the same. I am really focused on my job, to go to the Euros.

"Before we think about the summer, we need to reach to the Euros. I will speak to you about the future after the next game.

"We need to think about qualification first. The other things are completely out of my mind."

Capello is due to reveal his squad for the trip to Montengero on Sunday, but he has already sought advice from compatriot Giovanni Trapattoni on his experience in Montenegro with the Republic of Ireland.

"It will be noisy and intense. We also need to be careful about the provocation," he said.
