Burden is FA vice-chairman

Roger Burden, the man who withdrew his application to be chairman of the Football Association in disgust at the way some Fifa members had acted during Englan's 2018 World Cup bid, has been appointed as vice-chairman of the organisation. Burden, chairman of the Gloucestershire FA, succeeds Barry Bright who has been elected Leader of Council. Burden will represent the amateur side of the game alongside Premier League chairman Sir David Richards, the FA’s vice-chairman from the professional side. He said: “This is a great honour for me personally but also for the Gloucestershire FA, particularly as I am the second consecutive chairman of the county to rise to the position of vice-chairman of the FA. “My predecessor and mentor, the late Chris Wilcox, was vice-chairman to Sir Bert Millichip for many years.”
