Brendan Rodgers is understood to be among the candidates to replace Roy Hodgson as England manager, if he decides to leave when his contract expires after Euro 2016.

Rogers, who was sacked by Liverpool on Sunday after a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby, is on the shortlist of candidates that FA Chairman Greg Dyke will approach to take over the number one job in the country.

Dyke has previously stated that he would be open to having a foreign manager but would prefer to have a 'home-grown' criteria on his CV.

This would attract him to Rogers as he once said that his "life's work" is "trying to show that British players can play"

Also on the list is Everton Manager Roberto Martinez and Real Sociedad Manager David Moyes, with Arsene Wenger also being considered but the Frenchman has turned the England job down in the past.

The FA also want the next England boss to work out of St. George's Park , instead of the Wembley base that previous managers have used.

Former QPR and Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has said that he is also open to being the next England boss and would offer Rodgers an assistant manager role is he was given the job.

A poll on The Telegraph's website shows that 61% of fans wouldn't want Brendan Rodgers to take over from Hodgson after Euro 2016.
