Blues trio sit out training
02 Sep 2008 - 12:56:16
Chelsea trio Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole all sat out England's first training session ahead of the World Cup qualifying double-header with Andorra and Croatia.
Captain Terry has a bug, Lampard is suffering with a dead leg and Cole a knee problem, but none of the trio are expected to miss Saturday's opening game against Andorra in Barcelona.
Fabio Capello's side is expected to face a sterner test against their Euro 2008 qualifying nemesis Croatia in Zagreb four days later.
Manchester United defender Wes Brown also sat out the first session of the latest get-together, but is also expected to be fit for the weekend.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Bullard trained with his new international colleagues for the first time and the Fulham midfielder revealed he was 'buzzing' at his first call up to the England squad.
"To represent England has been my ambition ever since I was a young boy and to be called up by Fabio Capello is just a dream come true," he enthused.
"I've been working hard since my return from injury and I'd like to think that has earned me this chance.
"Now it's down to me to prove myself to the manager and just see what happens from there."
