Blake warns U19s must improve

Noel Blake, England U19 coach, has told his side they must improve against Holland and France if they are to reach the knockout stages of the European Championship. Sunday's 3-2 win over Austria ensured they have every chance of going through to the semi-finals, but Blake warned a performance similar to the one in their opening game will not be enough. "I thought we made it difficult for ourselves at times and, if I'm honest, one or two of my players didn't recognise the strength of the Austrians," he said. "They're a good all-round side and the lads knew that from watching the DVDS, but I thought a few of our players still took a bit of a liberty. Sometimes you need that wake-up call and maybe that was ours. I expressed that to them at full time." The young Three Lions take on Holland on Wednesday knowing victory would secure progression. "It'll be a tough game. We know what Holland are about and they know what we are about. We played them in February and drew 1-1 over there," added Blake.
