David Beckham is "feeling positive" following career-saving surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon.
The 34-year-old former England captain will miss this summer's World Cup after picking up the injury while playing for AC Milan on Sunday.
Beckham is facing many months on the sidelines following surgery in Finland on Monday but is upbeat about his chances of making a comeback.
"I'm feeling positive and now concentrating on getting back to full fitness over the coming months," he told his official website.
"The operation was a success and I'd like to thank Dr Orava and all the medical staff who looked after me during my time in Finland.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their messages of support, they mean a lot to me."
