Beckham will get one more cap

David Beckham will be given one more England cap after he fell victim to the new focus on youth for the Three Lions. Fabio Capello, the England coach, suggested before Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win over Hungary that Beckham would not be selected again as he was too old to be competitive at international level. That prompted clarification from Beckham's representatives that he would never take himself out of contention for his country, while Capello said after the match he would be given the chance to say farewell in one more game. He will, however, have to settle for it being a friendly match. "I hope when David is okay he can play here the last game at Wembley in a friendly to say goodbye and thank you very much to the crowd," he said. "I won't be picking him for any more competitive matches. David is a fantastic player, he was really important, but we have to see the new players for the future because the age is important for a lot of people, not only for David. "Did I phone him before I went on television? No. I think I will speak with him. We tried to speak with him. But I think David knows he has no future with the international team because we have to change. We tried to speak with him."
