Analysing England's Chances In Brazil

04 November 2013 14:56

In relatively comfortable fashion England have emerged from our world cup 2014 qualification group with an automatic qualification under our belts. Which means we can all sit back and relax safe in the knowledge we will be avoiding the play-off's and are safely in the hat for next months world cup draw.

Unfortunately though FIFA will be seeding the top eight ranking teams based on October’s rankings and not the usual November worlds rankings , which means England will be in pot b for the draw and could be paired with a heavy hitter straight away rather then later on in the tournament.

So England’s progress to the latter stages could all hinge on who’s group we land in, with the teams to be seeded according to current FIFA rankings.

Brazil,Spain,,Germany,Argentina,Colombia,Belgium, Uruguay[If they qualify] and Switzerland.

If England’s best players can remain injury free after a long club season then the likes of Rooney and Sturridge can terrorise any defence in the world some of our players though play 60 plus matches in one season and it has shown in previous tournaments to affect fitness levels, we can beat any of the heavyweights they put in front of us as we have proven in the past two years with some brilliant pefromances against the worlds best in Spain and Brazil. We just need to avoid injurys and have more rest time before major tournaments.

However England must make practicing penaltys an absolute top priority as we have a horrendous record with penalty shootouts we will never win a world cup until we can master the art of penaltys we will be left wanting again.
