Adams returns to management - in Azerbaijan

Tony Adams, the former England captain, has been appointed manager of the Azerbaijani side Gabala FC. Adams, 43, has just two disastrous spells in management to his name - Wycombe were relegated to League Two during his season in charge, while he managed just 16 games in charge of Portsmouth before being sacked. Despite that, the former centre-back is confident in his ability and believes the Eastern European nation is as good a place to start. "I was looking for a project. I am too young to retire," he told the BBC. "This one was very rare. I just thought it was a magnificent project to get my teeth into. They've given me a clean plate here to build a football club and you don't get that opportunity in the UK."
