Mitreski fined and dropped

Energie Cottbus have fined Igor Mitreski and dropped him from the first team following his recent verbal attack on the Bundesliga's bottom club.

The Macedonia defender blasted the hierarchy of the struggling club and suggested there was lack of fitness among his team-mates in a magazine interview.

Mitreski has now paid the price with a 10,000 euro fine and his place in the first team.

"Every single player has a responsibility for the discipline in the team," said coach Bojan Prasnikar.

"Criticism is okay, if it is voiced internally. We have to accept each other and be aware of our responsibility for our sporting aims.

"Whoever behaves like that has to deal with the respective consequences."
