Empoli coach Gigi Cagni has confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the season, even if they avoid relegation from Serie A.
Veteran Cagni was re-hired by Empoli two weeks ago and has seen his side take four points from their last two games in the battle to avoid the drop.
Hover, Cagni said after the 1-1 draw with Parma: "I am certain I will not be staying on next year.
"When I returned I spoke to the club and we decided our rapport would last until the end of the season, then we will each go our separate ways.
"We must continue working to improve areas of our play that are not up to scratch, but I have only been here for two weeks and am convinced next Sunday we'll see a different performance.
"The fight to stay in Serie A will depend a great deal on what the other clubs do.
"If one of them gives in, then the threshold needed to achieve safety gets lower, otherwise it becomes an even tougher battle."
