Queens Park 1-0 Elgin: Report

09 April 2011 19:24
Longworth strike enough for Spiders Queen's Park remain in the play-off hunt after Jamie Longworth's solitary strike helped them to a 1-0 victory over Elgin. The Spiders' Ian Watt sent a rising 21st-minute shot from the right over the top, before Elgin's Craig Gunn dragged an effort wide of the near-post shortly afterwards. With neither side able to break the deadlock before the interval it was left to Longworth to provide the moment of magic five minutes after the restart as he latched on to Richard Little's pass before striking the decisive goal. Elgin's Blair Lawrie forced Queen`s goalkeeper Adam Strain to tip an 18-yard effort around the post as the visitors searched for a way back into the contest. But that failed to materialise, with Queen's looking more likely to add a second. The win keeps the victors four points off the play-offs.
