Elgin pair miss out as Weir targets victory against 'best team in league'

Elgin City will be without Liam Gordon for their home game against Queen's Park.

Gordon is struggling with a knee injury, while club captain Jamie Duff is missing due to a groin problem.

Manager Jim Weir said: "Queen's Park may not be at the top of the league however they are the best team in the league.

"They are in-form and have players who work hard for each other.

"It will be a tough game to win but a terrific game to win. We have been strong at home all season and hopefully that will continue to be the case."

Queen's Park will bid for a fifth straight league win without Tony Ralston (ankle), Tony Quinn (hip) and John Carter (calf), but Cammy Marlow has shaken off a knock and has been added to the squad.

Head coach Gus MacPherson said: "Elgin have a really strong home record, which will be the envy of clubs right across Britain and this will be a really tough game for us to pick up three points in.

"We have played them twice at Hampden and won both times. The games have been very close, but we have built on periods of being on top by scoring goals and that ended up being the difference."
