Weir to assess pair

Elgin will give fitness tests to Daniel Moore and Archie MacPhee ahead of the visit of Queen's Park for a game that manager Jim Weir reckons will shape the rest of their season.

The Borough Briggs men, who defeated Clyde in midweek, will push themselves into the play-off chase if they can defeat the Spiders.

Weir noted: "I said to the players at the beginning of the week that if we could win our next two games we are looking at the front door for the rest of the season and not the back door.

"We need to beat a good Queen's Park side to get to the front one."

Second-placed Queen's Park head north without Shaun Rooney and James Baty, who both have groin injuries.

Head coach Gus McPherson reckons a repeat of their 4-1 success at Elgin earlier in the season will be hard to replicate.

McPherson explained: "We will be going there to win but the game will be a lot closer than the score-line in the last game would suggest. Jim Weir has done a terrific job in organising Elgin's defence and that has allowed their very dangerous strike force to win games for them.

"We will settle for a win of any kind as Elgin are bang in form at the moment."
