Elgin begin life without Jack

Elgin will be under the interim control of ex-skipper Paul Kaczan and current captain David Niven against Montrose following a parting of the ways with manager Ross Jack on Wednesday.

Niven will not have a playing role, though, as he has a toe problem with Brian Cameron's broken metatarsal keeping him sidelined as well.

Skipper Niven said: "We are looking to lift the club after a difficult few days that started when we lost to Queen's Park last weekend and continued when the manager left.

"We have a very good record against Montrose this season and it would be terrific to keep that going in this game."

Montrose head to Elgin with a major doubt over Luke Johnston, who has picked up a leg knock in training.

Despite a poor run of results, manager Stuart Garden is hoping to kick-start his side's promotion push.

He explained: "We are just one win away from getting back into the mix for the play-offs. Hopefully we can get that at Elgin, however the changes they have made will make getting three points more difficult.

"Their players will feel that they have a point to prove. However, after scoring six times against Elgin this season and not winning, we feel we have a point to prove as well."
