Jack without McMullan

Elgin will look to keep progressing after a sluggish start to their League 2 season by seeing off Montrose at Borough Briggs without Paul McMullan whose wife is expected to give birth.

Mark Nicolson (stomach) and Paul Millar (knee) will both miss out.

"We had to become a more pragmatic side after a disappointing start," boss Ross Jack said. "We have done that and it got us a good draw at Peterhead and a win over Clyde.

"Wins breed confidence so hopefully we can put in a really good display against Montrose and get another three points on board."

The Gable Endies head north with a fully fit and suspension-free squad available to manager Stuart Garden with on-loan St Johnstone defender Gareth Rodger available for the first time.

Montrose exited the Ramsdens Cup at the expense of Elgin back in July and Garden is keen to make amends.

"We actually played really well that day especially in the first half but we never took our chances and paid a heavy price," he explained.

"We have improved since then and earned a good win at Albion Rovers in our last outing. It would be great to build on that by winning this one as well."
