Duo set for Elgin debuts

Elgin will give their loan signings from St Johnstone, midfielder Craig Thomson and striker Alex Gilchrist, delayed debuts against visitors East Stirling after their meeting with Berwick Rangers was called off last week.

Recently appointed manager Jim Weir has everyone else in his squad to choose from as he looks to get his first win and launch a move away from the foot of the table.

Weir said: "We are at home and we have to look to take advantage of that. A win would also allow us to finally get the defeat from Albion Rovers out of our system which we have had to wait an extra week for."

The Shire head north without former Elgin player Paul McMullan, who has a foot injury with Nathan Shepherd (knee) and Max Wright (hamstring) missing as well.

Head coach Craig Tully said: "We played really well against the league leaders Arbroath last weekend however some unforced errors cost us. We have progressed as a team however we need to cut out errors from our game.

"There is no point in people telling you that you have improved if you are gifting goals away.

"We had a good chat with the players this week about the need for high concentration levels and hopefully we will see that up at Elgin."
