Elgin return to winning ways

An excellent second-half performance earned Elgin their first league win since early November as they overcame lowly East Stirling 3-1 at Borough Briggs.

Ross Jack's side opened the scoring after 43 minutes, Stuart Leslie sweeping home Mark Nicolson's assist.

The hosts were immediately pegged back by a Bradley Coyne penalty, his sixth goal of the season, after Leslie had handled inside the area moments before the half-time whistle.

Defender Archibald MacPhee restored Elgin's advantage 17 minutes from time with a stunning 30-yard effort before substitute Jason Crooks made the game safe in the last minute with a low effort after being played in by Craig Gunn.

The result moves the Black and Whites to within three points of the play-offs.
