10-man City outdone by Watson
Montrose secured their first win of 2014 with a 3-2 win against managerless Elgin after the hosts were reduced to 10 men at Borough Briggs.
The Gable Endies took an early lead when Elgin's defence failed to clear and Graham Webster popped up to score before Scott Johnston doubled the visitors' lead after tapping home from close range following some calamitous defending.
The hosts hit back though when Shane Sutherland cut the ball back for Jamie Masson to score with the aid of the post before City were reduced to 10 men when Marc Nicolson was shown a second yellow.
Despite that Sutherland scored his ninth goal of the season to level for the hosts with less than quarter of an hour left but any Elgin hopes of a point were quashed when Montrose's Paul Watson powered a free-kick beyond Raymond Jellema.
