Hopkirk at the double

David Hopkirk, on loan from Queen of the South, grabbed a brace for Annan Athletic in a 2-2 draw at Elgin City.

Daniel Moore supplied the corner from which Jamie Duff headed in to open the scoring for the home side after 30 minutes. But Hopkirk equalised moments later, with a shot from the edge of the box. Craig Gunn scored his 50th goal for Elgin, as he restored the lead on 38 minutes, heading past Alex Mitchell in the Annan goal.

Hopkirk levelled matters in the first minute of the second half, scoring a fine volley from an Alistair Love cross. Elgin threw everything at the Annan defence in the closing stages as they searched for the winner, but a second successive 2-2 draw for the Borough Briggs side leaves them second in the table, behind Rangers on goal difference.
