Elgin's spirit shines through

Stuart Leslie's brace gave 10-man Elgin an unlikely 2-1 victory over Clyde to maintain the pressure on Rangers in Scottish Division Three.

Clyde threatened to cause a shock on the half hour through the unfortunate Mark Nicolson, who headed Sean Fitzharris's dangerous cross past his own goalkeeper.

Parity was restored 10 minutes before the break through Leslie after he rifled in from close range.

Clyde's hopes of an upset received a boost after 57 minutes when David Niven's foul on Fitzharris brought him a second booking.

But Elgin grabbed the winner in the last 10 minutes, Leslie finding space to sweep home after good work by Craig Gunn for his ninth goal of the season.

Clyde pressed but a long-range Fitzharris effort was easily saved by John Gibson.
