Elgin gain momentum

Elgin's Scottish Third Division play-off charge gained further momentum as they eased to a 2-0 win at basement dwellers Clyde.

The opening 45 minutes made for a poor spectacle as both teams struggled to mount any threatening attacks. The best chance of the half fell to Elgin striker Daniel Moore, who was denied by Goalkeeper Nicholas Feely from 18 yards.

Things soon changed after the break, however, as the visitors took the lead 12 minutes into the second period when Mark Nicolson fed striker Jason Crooks, who drove a low shot into the bottom of the net from 12 yards.

The game was put beyond doubt 12 minutes from time as Moore fed Brian Cameron, who angled a strike into the bottom left-hand corner from close range.
