Arbroath 2-0 Elgin: Report

23 February 2011 21:39
Red Lichties remain top with win Arbroath remain at the summit of the Scottish Third Division courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 win over Elgin. Knowing that anything other than a victory would give Stranraer the opportunity to leapfrog them, the Red Lichties started brightly, taking the lead in the third minute. Paul Sheerin was the orchestrator, jinking his way down the right wing before sending in a delicious cross which Gavin Swankie nodded home. Elgin found themselves two down in the 20th minute when Kieran McAnespie found Paul Sheerin, who fired home. Any hopes the visitors had of getting back into the encounter evaporated in the 53rd minute when Paul Kaczan was sent off for a second bookable offence.
