Eintracht Frankfurt boss Michael Skibbe has cited the club's financial problems for his decision to leave at the end of the season.

The 44-year-old has only been in the job since the beginning of the campaign but has become frustrated by the lack of ambition at the Bundesliga club.

"It is important for me to continue improving and the club I coach need to develop as well if the collaboration is to be successful," he told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

"However, the current situation is that Eintracht Frankfurt are not in a position to develop. The club cannot finance a new striker but we desperately need a new attacker. The players I have give everything they have got but the squad lacks depth.

"We have reached our boundaries and, unfortunately, with this club we cannot go beyond them. We have just lost too much substance to play good football in the long term."
