New Frankfurt deal for Funkel

Veteran Eintracht Frankfurt coach Friedhelm Funkel has penned a new contract with the club.

The 55-year-old has agreed a deal that will see him remain with the mid-table Bundesliga side until the end of next season, his sixth with the club.

"He is our locomotive and looks the part," said Eintracht chairman Heribert Bruchhage. "The players don't doubt him for a second."

Funkel is already close to becoming Eintracht's longest serving coach with only Erich Ribbeck currently ahead of him.
