Sudan and Zambia players wore black armbands Saturday in an Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final as a mark of respect for the 74 Egyptians who died after a midweek match in Port Said.

There was also a minute's silence before the kick off at the near-empty 35,000-seat Estadio de Bata in this port city and the Confederation of African Football flag flew at half mast.

The Egyptians died after a pitch invasion following a national league match between local club Al-Masry and Cairo-based Al-Ahly, the most successful football club in Africa with six CAF Champions League titles.
