Stranraer 4-1 East Stirling: Report

23 February 2011 21:39
Armand the One for Stranraer Armand One netted a hat-trick as Stranraer kept up the pressure on Scottish Division Three leaders Arbroath with a 4-1 victory over East Stirling. Clearly buoyed by the opportunity to crank up the pressure on the Red Lichties, the home side flew out of the blocks and took the lead in just the sixth minute through Scott Agnew's smart finish. East Stirling responded admirably thereafter, though, and restored parity nine minutes later when Stephen Maguire converted Kevin Cawley's right-wing cross. But, as the game wore on, Stranraer's class began to show with them regaining the lead in the 34th minute. Craig Malcolm was instrumental, sending in a well-placed cross which One stroked past Michael Andrews. The striker finished the game off three minutes later, again profiting from Malcolm's good work before firing home. Things got better for One in the second half as he completed his treble with another smart finish.
